An original men's linen jacket dating from the 1920s.

This style of jacket was popular during the mid Century period for wear in hot climates. It is made from a cream coloured linen which was chosen due to its lightweight nature. It is cut in a typical 1920s fashion being short in the body and featuring no rear vent. Two button jackets were popular in the 1920s more so than in the 1930s and the narrow shoulder displacement is also typical of the period. The front fastens with two buttons and features a notched lapel which is a classic 1920s shape which was not seen in later decades. Flapped pockets are located to the skirt and the jacket features a partial lining across the shoulders. A hanging loop is located to the neck and there is a single interior pocket.

The original label is present to the interior and is a simple design. It bears the maker's name 'Wah Fung' and the place name Penang.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 34" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 18"
Inside arm - 16"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 15"
Length - 24 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is some staining which is evident in the pictures but on the whole it displays well and is totally wearable. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a well used jacket which has issues.

A classic piece of 1920s summer attire with some great details.
