An original British made navy blue sports cap which was made for a Yorkshire sporting association in approximately the 1920s.
This type of cap was popular for schools, colleges, universities and sports clubs during the first half of the 20th Century. The shape is typical of the Edwardian period featuring a panelled top and a small peak. It is made from a navy blue coloured wool and features the letters 'Y.A.B.A' embroidered to the front below which is the white rose of Yorkshire. There are two threaded loops to the peak to which a hook can be attached allowing the cap to be worn in two different styles.
The interior of the cap is lined in a cold coloured silk. This has ripped in numerous places due to becoming fragile with age.
The cap is a small size of approximately 6 3/4.
The cap is in good condition overall with a few flaws as illustrated in the pictures. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, worn pair of trousers which have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original early 20th Century sports cap.
