An original men's work shirt which was made by 'Gevaco' in Holland during the 1950s and is in deadstock, unworn condition.

This shirt is typical of those worn by workmen, artisans, labourers and many others in Holland during the post-war period. It is made from a wool cotton blend material which features an intricate checked pattern and has a yellow selvedge as illustrated in the final picture. The shirt is of half-placket design which is typical of work shirts from the first half of the 20th Century, as well as in the post-war period. It is pulled on over the wearer's head and is generously cut across the chest and the shoulders to allow for this. The front fastens with three buttons (including one at the collar). The collar is a cutaway shape which was popular during the 1950s and well into the 1960. The cuffs are a simple barrel design which also fasten with buttons.

The original label is still present to the neck and features the maker's name of 'Gevaco'. There is also a size label which reads '40' which corresponds to a British size 15 1/2" neck. The neck however actually measures at 17"

The shirt is a medium to large size which will easily fit up to a 42" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 21 1/2"
Outside arm - 21 3/4"
Shoulders - 23 1/2"
Collar - 39 1/2"

The shirt is in excellent, unworn condition and could be described as 'deadstock'. There are no serious flaws or damage and no signs of previous wear. It is however a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice original mid Century work shirt which is in a great colourway and has some typical period details.

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
