An original British made men's Harris Tweed Jacket made by Burton in the 1960s.
This jacket is typical of British made tweed jackets from the 1960s. It is made from a classic tweed of muted grey-green tones and features leather footballs to the front and to the cuffs. Flapped pockets are located to the skirt and a single chest pocket is present to the left breast. There is also a ticket pocket above the right flapped pocket at the waist. The rear features two short vents as are often encountered on jackets from this period. The jacket fastens with three buttons and features a typically narrow 1960s lapel.
The interior is fully lined and features a hanging loop at the neck and a single internal pocket. Above this is the Harris Tweed label whilst the 'Burton' label is below it.
The jacket will suit a 42" chest and when laid flat it measure -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length at rear - 28"
The jacket is in worn condition but has been well looked after. There are signs of wear and use and a period darn repair to the lining inside the jacket but there are no serious flaws or damage. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A classic British jacket with some nice details.
