£250.00 Approx $309.41, €290.36

A rare original PVC jerkin made by 'EROS' in the 1950s.

Eros were a manufacturer of workwear clothing and outerwear in the mid Century period and were one of the first British brands to produce polyvinyl chloride fabric garments, better known today as 'PVC'. This material was viewed as cutting edge at the time and was used in place of leather due to its better waterproof quality and durability.

This item is clearly modelled on the leather jerkin which was produced in the Great War and Second World War for the British military. It features the same four button front which fastens with butterscotch coloured buttons. The interior is lined with a flecked grey blanket wool material which is typical of the period. The original label is fitted to the neck and features the 'EROS' brand name at the top and the graphics used during the 1950s. It also features the tagline 'The name that denotes quality' as well as 'British manufacture'

Jerkins such as this are designed to be worn as an outer layer of a coat and are therefore cut in a large, oversize manner. It will fit a 38" - 40" chest well and possibly larger. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 3/4"
Length - 30 1/2"

The jerkin is in good condition with some limited signs of wear and age. Overall it displays very well and is very wearable but please bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice piece of post-war workwear with a great label and buttons.
