An original early 1950s British men's suit jacket in good condition.
This cut of jacket was popular in the U.K during the late 1940s and early 1950s. The jacket is made from a mottled grey-green coloured worsted wool and features a pronounced, wide lapel and two button front. A single, short vent to the rear which is common to find during this period and the two button cuff is functioning which would suggest that the jacket is bespoke made and is always considered a feature of a well made jacket.
The interior of the jacket is fully lined in a grey-silver coloured silk material. There are also interior pockets but no signs of any maker's labels or similar.
The jacket will suit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 22 1/4"
Inside arm - 16 3/4"
Outside arm - 25 3/4"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 30 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition with no major flaws or signs of excessive wear. It displays well and is still very wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original 1950s jacket with all the typical features of the day!
