An Original United States Army M-1951 Combat Jacket which was made in 1952.
Officially designated 'Jacket, Shell, Field, M-1951', this jacket was part of the new M51 uniform system introduced in the early 1950s. Taking its influence from the M1943 combat uniform, this pattern of jacket was the next generation in combat clothing produced for the American Military. Made from a green coloured cotton sateen, the jacket features expanding patch pockets to the chest as well as flapped lower pockets, a heavy duty 'Conmar' branded zipper to fasten the front and press studs to secure the fly which fastens over the zip.
Inside the jacket the original markings are still present. The size is marked as 'small long' and the date of 27 June 1952 is also present. When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 19 3/4"
Length at rear - 32 1/2"
The jacket is in well worn condition with numerous flaws. There are plenty of signs of use and age as well as some holes etc. This is reflected in the price but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A well worn example with plenty of character.
