A fantastic pair of original men's overalls made by the famous British workwear brand 'Lybro' during the 1940s.
These overalls are a very quality item with more details than are usually found on workwear in this period. They are made from a high quality raw cotton which feels thick and hard wearing. The front of the overalls fastens with metal buttons which feature the 'Lybro' brand name. The same buttons are used to fasten the chest pockets and they are all held in place with the correct brass split pins and washers which are clearly original to the suit. There is a matching waist belt which has a metal buckle - These are often missing on overalls found today. There are pockets located to the hips behind which are pocket opening to allow access to the clothing worn underneath the overalls. Particularly nice details not usually encountered including the raglan sleeve, buttoning collar detail (picture 5), pointed cuff detail and the double spanner pocket to the right leg.
Inside the overalls the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the maker's name of 'Lybro Brand' along with typical period graphics and the words 'Made in England'. Below this is a small size label which reads '40' and relates to the chest size.
When laid flat the overalls measure -
Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19"
Inside leg - 26 1/2"
The overalls are in great condition with only limited signs of wear and age. They display very well and are still totally wearable with no serious flaws or damage. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that these overalls are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A truly fantastic set of very high quality 1940s overalls with some great details.
