An original pair of men's Harris Tweed trousers which date from the 1940s and are a harder to find larger size.
The trousers are made from a thick, brown and oatmeal coloured tweed which features a dogtooth type pattern. The cut is typical of the period with a high rise waist and featuring a wide leg with turn up at the cuff. The fly fastens with buttons and more buttons are located around the inside edge of the waistband to which braces can be attached. A large ticket pocket is located below the waistband and a single rear pocket can be found to the seat. The front of the trousers features twin pleats and straight pockets at the hips which help to date these to being 1940s. The leg length has been let down to its fullest extent with a piece of contrasting dogtooth patterned fabric being used to aid this. This has been nicely done and is not visible when the trousers are worn.
The trousers are a larger size which will suit a 37" waist. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 18 1/2"
Rise - 16 1/2"
Rear rise - 22"
Inside leg - 32"
Outside leg - 46 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition with some signs of age and wear. Overall they display well and are totally wearable with no serious flaws or damage. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned pair of trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A very nice pair of original trousers in great condition and a hard to find larger size.
